Clay City Pottery

Did you know…
In 1885 the Statue of Liberty arrived in New York City, Mark Twain’s Adventures of Huckleberry Finn was published, and Griffith Pottery was established in the little town of Clay City Indiana? This 6th generation pottery business still operates in the same location and offers some of the finest clay pottery in the country. Now known as Clay City Pottery. They’ve kept up with the times, updating the jiggering wheel from steam power to electric while still holding on to the sincere values their family trade was built on. Visitors can view a collection of ancient wares dating all the way back to 1885. I’m glad I was able to take the tour and share with you the well preserved history this little place has to offer.
